Solidarity Screenings: Workers of the Sham

5.30-9.30pm, 22 March, 2025
Listen Gallery, 210 Hunter St, Glasgow G4 0UP

This event will explore the worker struggle in the Sham (Levant) countries. From the aspiration of industrialisation to the strikes of tobacco workers, the radiant labour history of the Sham has been abandoned to time. Let us uncover this history, learn from it and revitalise our struggle!

Dr. Kay Dickinson will give a presentation on how Lebanese workers organised politically, the National Film Organisation in Syria and the revolutionary use of archives. Following that, we will watch the short film of the night, have Iftar at 6.41pm, and finish the evening with a feature film and discussion.

Sign up to get your free ticket and if possible, please donate to the venue!

Solidarity Screenings is a film screening initiative based in Glasgow, Scotland. (Re)building genuine solidarity through the medium of film is our contribution to the cultural front. The aim of our work is to confront our audience with educational and agitational screenings that move us towards liberation.

This project is supported by Thinking Culture funding 2024-25, awarded to Kay Dickinson.
